Problem relates

to Selectric I

and II single pitch typewriters

1. Backspace pawl holding

on escapement rack in-

stead of escapement pawl.

Adjust clearance between back-

space pawl (73-46) and backspace

rack with backspace bellcrank

screw (82-15).

Clearance approximately .010".

1. Backspace pawl holding

on escapement rack in

stead of escapement pawl.

2. Express backspace latch

and keylever pawl(83-16)

Binds in express backspace

shoe (34-36)

Adjust keylever pawl and express

backspace latch to release and

hold the backspace interposer,

until the express keybutton is

released.

When the express keybutton is

released the backspace mechanism

will be activated.

Selectric II dual

pitch.

Binds in express backspace

shoe (34-36)

Adjust bellcrank (33-40) by form-

ing to get shoe clearance.

Adjust for .010"

Machine crowds

after a shift.

1. Trigger knockoff (74-45)

Adjust trigger knockoff for .015"

clearance between the escapement

pawl (73-43) and the escapement

rack (73-44).

Trigger knockoff controls escapement pawl clearance .

2. Shift cam (62-21) not

detented with shift arm

roller properly (62-20)

Adjust shift mechanism - "See

shift section".

When shift is in upper case position, the detent roller should be fully seated in detent dwell.

3. Character interrupter

maladjusted or damaged
